TEXAS SHEET CAKE

2 sticks margarine
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 cup water
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup buttermilk*
1 teaspoon baking soda

Cook together margarine, cocoa, and water until margarine is melted. Mix together flour, salt, and sugar. Add cocoa mixture to flour mixture. Stir well. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix baking soda to butter milk and stir into the rest of batter. Pour batter into greased jelly roll pan and bake at 350° for about 20 to 25 minutes.



Icing (Ice the cake before it cools)
1 stick margarine
4 tablespoons cocoa
6 tablespoons milk
1 lb powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Cook together margarine, cocoa, and milk. Remove from heat and add vanilla, sugar, and walnuts. Spread on hot cake.
* If you don't have buttermilk, use 1 tablespoon vinegar in the milk as a substitute.
