1/2 cup soft shortening
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup undiluted evaporated milk
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup chopped nuts
Mix shortening, sugars, and eggs thoroughly. Stir in the milk, and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients and stir well. Fold in the nuts. Chill 1 hour. Drop on a greased baking sheet and bake 10 minutes at 375°. While warm, frost with the burnt butter glaze.
Directions for burnt butter glaze:
Heat 2 tablespoons butter until golden brown. Add 2 cups powdered sugar and 1/4 cup undiluted evaporated milk. Stir until smooth.
