Carrot Cake


2 1/2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 teasp. ground cinnamon
1 cup butter
1 Tables. vanilla
1/4 cup cocoa
1 teasp. baking powder
1/2 teasp. ground allspice
3 eggs
1 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate bits
3 cups shredded carrots (drain off water, if any)

Combine all ingredients except nuts, chocolate, and carrots in a large bowl. Mix at high speed for 3 minutes. Stir in chocolate bits, walnuts, and carrots. Pour into floured and greased 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes.
