2 eggs, at room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup hot milk

5 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 cup grated coconut

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 7-inch by 11-inch baking pan, or line the bottom with parchment paper.

Beat eggs with sugar until fluffy. Add vanilla. Sift together flour and baking powder; add to sugar mixture. Melt butter in hot milk and add to other ingredients. Bake 20 minutes.

Bring topping ingredients to a boil in a saucepan. When cake is done baking, remove from oven and pour boiling mixture on top. Return cake to oven to brown.
