HOLIDAY BITS CUTOUT COOKIES

1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt HERSHEY'S Holiday Candy Coated Bits

In large bowl, beat butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla on low speed of electric mixer about 30 seconds or until blended. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt; add to butter mixture, stirring until well blended.

Divide dough in half. Cover; refrigerate 1 to 2 hours. Heat oven to 400F. On lightly floured surface, roll half of the dough at a time 1/4 inch thick. Cut into tree, wreath, star or other shapes with 2-1/2-inch cookie cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press candy coated bits into cutouts.

Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until edges are firm and bottoms are very lightly browned. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.
About 3-1/2 dozen cookies.
