QUICK & EASY FUDGEY BROWNIES
4 bars (1 oz each) HERSHEY'S Unsweetened Baking Chocolate, broken into pieces
3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Creamy quick chocolate frosting (recipe follows), optional
Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
In large microwave-safe bowl, place chocolate and butter.
Microwave at HIGH (100%) 1-1/2 to 2 minutes or until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth
when stirred. Add sugar; stir with spoon until well blended. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Add flour and nuts, if desired; stir until well blended.
Spread into prepared pan.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out almost clean. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Prepare CREAMY QUICK CHOCOLATE FROSTING, if desired; frost brownies. Cut into squares. About 24 brownies.
CREAMY QUICK CHOCOLATE FROSTING
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 3 bars (1 oz. each) HERSHEY'S Unsweetened Baking Chocolate, broken into pieces
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
In small saucepan over very low heat, melt butter; add chocolate pieces. Cook, stirring constantly, until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth. Pour into large bowl. Add powdered sugar, milk, vanilla and salt; beat on medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. If necessary, refrigerate 10 minutes or until of spreading consistency. About 2 cups frosting.
