Tavern Biscuits

• 4 cups flour
• l/2 tsp nutmeg
• l/2 tsp mace
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 cup butter
• 1 1/2 cups milk
• 1 cup sugar

Sift together the flour, nutmeg, mace and sugar. Blend the butter and flour until the mixture is mealy. Gradually add the milk and knead into a smooth dough. Roll thin and cut into small rounds. Bake at 450 degrees F. until light brown.
