Sweet Berry Bread

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tsp almond or vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 cup crushed fresh strawberries
or frozen unsweetened berries thawed
(can substitute raspberries or blueberries)
1/2 tsp grated lemon zest.

Preheat oven 325 F. Grease 8 1/2x4 1/2 inch loaf pan. Line with wax paper and grease the paper.

Mix together the dry ingredients in medium bowl.

In large bowl beat at medium speed the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the extract and the eggs one at a time.

Stir the dry ingredients into the wet ones until moistened. Gently fold in the berries. Pour into pan and bake 50 to 60 minutes. Turn onto rack remove paper and cool.
