Perfect Buttermilk Biscuits with Fruit Butter
Biscuits.
2 cups all purpose flour.
2 teaspoons baking powder.
1/4 teaspoon baking soda.
1/4 teaspoon salt.
1/2 cup Butter, chilled.
3/4 cup buttermilk.
1 tablespoon Butter, melted
Heat oven to 450. In large bowl combine flour, baking powder, baking soda
and salt; mix well. With pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in butter until
crumbly. Stir in buttermilk just until moistened.
Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead 12 to 15 times or until well
mixed.
Roll out dough to 3/4 inch thickness. With 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter or cup,
cut out 8 biscuits; place 1 inch apart on baking sheet.
Brush biscuits with melted butter.
Bake for 10 to 14 minutes or until lightly browned.
Makes 8 biscuits.
Fruit Butter
1/2 cup Butter, softened.
3 tablespoons of your favoirte fruit preserves (peach, strawberry, raspberry,
etc.)
In small bowl stir together softened butter and preserves until well mixed.
Serve warm biscuits with fruit butter.
