GERMAN POTATO SALAD


8 potatoes, medium
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup vinegar
1/3 cup water
1/2 lb. bacon and grease 1/8 tsp. celery seed (optional)

Peel and cube raw potatoes. Cover with cold water.
Add salt and cook until done.
In another saucepan, boil together vinegar, sugar, water and celery seed.
In skillet, fry bacon slices until crisp. Then crumble into tiny bits, save grease.
Drain, cooked potatoes and add boiling vinegar mixture, bacon bits and grease.
Salt and pepper then stir until potatoes become slushy.
Serve hot.



SLAW DRESSING


1 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. celery seed
1/2 cup vinegar

Let dressing stand 24 hours.

SLAW:
1 average head of cabbage
1 cup diced celery
1/2 cup diced onions
1/2 cup diced mangoes
Mix all together and cover with Slaw Dressing. Toss well.
VARIATION: Toss into 2 cups torn romaine lettuce.
